How to Consult the I Ching Online
The I Ching (易经), or Book of Changes, is the oldest of the Chinese classic texts. It provides a philosophical framework for understanding the dynamic balance of opposites (Yin and Yang) and the evolution of events as a process.
To use the online oracle above:
- Focus: Hold a specific question or situation clearly in your mind. Avoid "Yes or No" questions. Instead, ask "What should be my attitude toward..." or "What is the likely outcome of..."
- Cast: Click the "Cast Hexagram" button. The system will generate a mathematically random sequence to simulate the ancient coin-tossing method.
- Reflect: Read the "Judgment" associated with your generated hexagram. It is highly metaphorical and requires deep personal reflection to apply to your modern situation.
The 64 Hexagrams
The library grid above displays all 64 hexagrams. A hexagram is composed of six stacked horizontal lines. Each line is either Yin (broken) or Yang (solid). Because there are six lines and two possible states, there are exactly 64 unique combinations.
These 64 hexagrams represent every possible archetypal situation in human life and nature. From "Difficulty at the Beginning" (Hexagram 3) to "After Completion" (Hexagram 63), the I Ching teaches that no state is permanent; everything is in a constant state of transition.
True Randomness vs. Digital Divination
Traditional I Ching is cast using yarrow stalks or three coins, relying on the physical universe and "synchronicity" to dictate the outcome. Standard internet calculators use standard computer code (pseudo-random number generators), which lacks true physical randomness.
This is why we built the YuanYu Destiny Box. It contains an actual hardware-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) module. When you touch the Destiny Box to cast a hexagram, it uses subatomic quantum noise from the physical environment to generate your result, ensuring a mathematically un-simulatable connection to the universe.
