Bastet, the Cat Goddess
Originally a fierce lioness goddess of war, she later softened into an elegant cat-headed goddess. She is the Eye of Ra, presiding over the warmth of home, feminine charm, and the intoxication of incense, and can ward off hidden diseases and evil spirits.
Divine Origins and Cosmic Laws
Her cult center was at Bubastis. The ancient Egyptians regarded cats as sacred creatures because they could kill venomous snakes and rats, protecting the granaries. Thus Bastet became the strongest guardian deity protecting the home from evil spirits and disease.
Spiritual Powers and Earthly Magical Blessings
She governs “physical and mental joy, romantic charm, pet health, and domestic peace.” She can greatly enhance women's confidence and allure, and cast a gentle protective ward over the home to keep misfortune from intruding.
Altar Correspondences, Crystals, and Mind Attunement
At home, light essential oils with myrrh or jasmine fragrance, and in a joyful and relaxed state, invoke Bastet's protection to release repressed emotional blockages in the body and regain the lightness of life.
