Divine Origins and Epic Legacy
Great-grandson of Prajapati Kashyapa, and the wise and sacred sovereign of the Asura clan. He ruled the three worlds with supreme benevolent governance, eradicating all poverty and suffering. The gods, envious of his majesty, asked Vishnu to incarnate as a dwarf to test him. King Bali kept his promise and selflessly gave away three steps of land, and was finally invited by the gods to rule over the blissful subterranean Asura paradise.
